    Hello everybody. Its been a while since I have done this but I'm trying to backup a dvd of mine but for some reason it just stopped working. I've done 5 or so before this started. I did some searches here before bothering you all but what I did didn't work. I thought maybe my nero verson was out of date so I followed steps from another post and that didnt help me at all. i did the nero clean tool and then re-installed it and still I get the same error. After I rip it to my HD using dvd shrink I use nero to burn it to disk but as soon as it tries to burn layer 1 it tells me that it cant burn at once. I'm using Ridata 2.4x dvd+r DL. Yes, I do have a DL burning drive. My drive is the one that came with my laptop. I have no idea to find out what kind it is. Below is my log. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    @cypres
    Since you are burning to a dual layer disc, you don't need Recode. You can give Nero another try.You can just open Nero Burning Rom and burn to the disc.
    Some people say they have been more successful burning dual layer with DVD Decrypter. If you ripped the movie with DVD Shrink, you should have no problem doing it with DVD Decrypter, ISO mode, and then burn the resulting ISO with Decrypter.

    Whats the difference between nero recode and nero burning rom? How would I go about opening nero burning rom?

    With Nero Recode, you edit the movie, shrink it, remove audio and subtiles that take space, you re-encode the movie to make it smaller and fit onto a SL disc. Since you use a DL disc, no need for that, just burn the ripped files.
    [bold]Open Nero Start Smart[/bold]

    After you open NBR, you can follow the guide here:
    http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-video.php

    That is for an older version of nero. If you search it you can find one for nero 7 on AD. It is very similar.

    alkohol has a very good guide for using Nero:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/256436

    I only use Verbatim DLs and they have never let me down. It looks like it only burned one layer on your disc, or tried to.
    As stated, you dont need recode for a DL burn. Thats for shrinking a DL size movie, down to fit on a DVD5.

    Awesome!!! You guys are great and you really know what your talking about. I used dvd decrypter earlier and that worked pretty well but when nero worked for me it seemed to work faster so I will mess with that when I get home. Thanks for all your help.
