I have an error message coming up that i have never seen before. I was able to shrink the movie just fine like i have with all the other ones i have done. I went to burn the movie and everything seemed fine. I get about halfway through the movie and Nero spits the disk (HalfBurned) out and says Nero could not finish this process because i dont have the proper files needed. Now that isnt an exact quote because i dont want to waste another DVD seeing i have done 3 already. Anyone know what might be wrong? Its is Nero 6. I have used it for the 300 DVD's ive done up until now. Why all of a sudden would i have this trouble. I use DVD Shrink 3.2 the newest version, and DVD Decypter. Im puzzled and pissed. please help.

Find your Nero log and post it (being sure to edit out your serial number first).

Yeah. i have a feeling they have put something in the newer disks that is causing this error. I had the problem with precint 13 and anoter movie. I am going to try Team America and White Noise now and see what happens this time i will write down the error message.

Well i got the error again. I saved it but it is 86 pages long.
But this is the error that keeps showing up over and over. I have no clue what it means.

I think that's a "media not sensed" error.
Don't post 86 pages..just scroll down to the last attempt section and post that.
Or rename your old log and then attempt again, this will make a new log.
Your choice, but we need to see one entire attempt.

I try not to clutch at straws, but it occurred to me that I use Win XP and have disabled IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE. It could be you used to have this option disabled too but with the reinstall are back at defaults.

    Just a couple of things...
First I think you need to update your Nero the current version is 6.6.0.13.

Second, it looks like your DMA is not enabled so that does not help. Just do a search for "enable DMA". There has been a lot written about it.

    Here is one link...
    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html

Are those comlete burn logs you are posting? Just post the whole thing. We like that.

Ok. I updated my NERO. I went to the store and bout Nero 6.0. i then downloaded the update for it. Everything is installed. I then tried to burn a movie. I am still getting the error. This is the error i got. I dont know how to enable that thing you said. I did a search for it but i had no luck. So if someone could walk me through how to do that, that might help. Any other suggestions on how all of a sudden it wouldnt work, and then buying a brand new version with the updates and still having problems. AHHHH i am getting frusterated. PLEASE HELP!

    @smileddog -
    - this firmware i think is very old. i found references to a 1.08 dated June 2004 somewhere..

    - you're attempting to burn to very edge of disc, set your target limit to 4300MB in DVD Shrink

    - hmmm i think media might be a tad questionable, but look into firmware first...

    - yup!

    - too many of these... hmmmm. don't think youu drive likes that media

    - splat

Ok i changed my target size to what you mentioned above in DVD shrink. I also checked my media. It seems to be fine. My computer reconizes it as DVD- DISC. Now how do i update the firmware you were talking about???

    with great care!.

i'll just try and find somewhere reputable to get it, as the main site i know of hasn't been working for a day or so (http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php)...

[bold]ONLY[/bold] attempt this once you're happy with what to do, or your drive might go splat!. If you got any rewritable discs, i'd experiment burning with those for a bit until you're happy, and look at the firmware upgrade last of all maybe.
