ok i've been having this problem for over a month now. When i burn anyhing in nero like a movie or audio cd, around 25-38% it always gets a write error and i have to abort. Beleive it or not I've went through 10 blank dvd+r's and about 20 cd-r's. This is not good at all. I am trying to get some things burned on disc for my family on Xmas and right now its looking like ill have to buy a whole new burner if i cant find a solution.

Other people have helped me with this problem already but it is re occuring :(
Here are some of the things Ive done to try and fix the problem
-updated my firmware to latest version
-reset my DMA off and on
    -re installed my driver

If anyone can take a look at my log and give any advice or help I would most definetly appreciate that. Thanx afterdawn!!!

Man you are still runing way to much stuff in the background. Most likely some of the preinstalled dell crap. Search for enditall2 and kill all those apps you can prior to burning.

I am not speeking of hard drive space. Memory is ram The memory programs run in when in operation.

Incase you have a hard time finding it here is a link

    http://www.docsdownloads.com/download/EndItAll2.zip

Just unzip it and run the setup. There is a couple txt files in the zip with info about it if you want to read to know what it will do for you. After you get the app installed to close background apps just click the icon that looks like skull and crossbones.

Nero 7 is up to 7.0.1.4b
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php
in a big hurry?? DVDs Should be burning at 4x, max 8x. 16x burning is for crazy ppl, unless that was a CD you were burning. Yes, that looks like a CD, so nevermind about the 16x stuff.
looks like it didn't like your media. CDs will usually burn on anything, and DVDs seem to be more picky on media type and brand. You could try using a different brand of CD like maybe Verbatim.
Update Nero, try different media. Your firmware looks up to date on both drives. Can't see anything else that looks like a problem in this log.

    - there's 7.0.1.4 out now - http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-up.php

    - presuming your drive is a Dell OEM drive, see - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=301

    - sufficient total memory, but you have no free memory left. you need to close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory

    - the burner can't recognise that disc properly, here's an example (not the best example as it's CMC but it's an example) of what it should look like, ie when the firmware's up to date you see a 3line paragraph like this -
    - basically the blank discs are newer than the burner knows what to do with, ie it's firmware isn't capable to recognising those discs. this happens with drives, new models come along and the older drives/firmware get left behind, yet newer media is still produced

    - follow ALL suggestions
