We need more information. What brand of discs have you been using? What versions of Nero? Can you post a Nero log? What are your computer specs?

Why are you asking Nero CD burning questions in the DVD Shrink forum where the media used is either DVD5 or DVD9R?

-1169=Logical unit not ready, operation in progress

Which leads me to wonder, do you have batch writing software or have something stored to be burned that is holding up your cd burner? Close or remove any offending software and make sure your cache is empty before starting a new project.

The above are things I noticed form your log.

The first and second entries tell me that your writer does not like the discs you are using.

Next, you should try to free up some memory while trying to burn. Having 72% of your memory in use isn't a good idea. Try to get it at least below 45%.

Lastly, check Nero Tools > Nero InfoTool to check your ASPI. Both the Nero and System ASPI should be enabled.

You really posted this in the wrong forum. I hope one of our Moderators can move it!

I noticed the thread had been appropriately moved when ddp posted.

As for ASPI, Nero has it's own and should check green with ASPI installed and working properly. System ASPI should show yellow and ASPI is not installed with XP. This is checking with Nero's InfoTool.

    @brobear

While it is true that XP doesn't require system ASPI to be installed, I've found that it does work better with it. It doesn't hurt or conflict with anything. There is no harm in using it.

Sorry, I didn't notice the thread had been moved. :) It's late at night.

True, ASPI doesn't hurt anything unless improperly installed. However, to date I've yet to see it be the solution to any problems. Software needing it, such as Nero, have their own. On some rare occasions ASPI may be needed, but no one has pointed out a particular incident where ASPI has fixed a problem. Usually it's ASPI and something else that cured the problem, with the something else the actual solution.

Deep in mind our friend is trying to burn a CD not a DVD.

I have seen cases where ASPI installation has solved CD problems.

Reguardless, it's worth the try. :)

LOL As we both agree, it can't hurt. ;) Be interesting to see what happens. But since Nero is in use and it already has a version of ASPI, I don't see what adding more will accomplish. I've been wrong before, so we'll see.

how would i install my system ASPI as i dont know what i am doing

If you must do it, at least do it right. Use ForceASPI 1.8 and be sure to read and follow the instructions. http://force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl/ Use the aspichk.exe to make sure everything is set up properly when you're done. With the Nero check both Nero and System should read go (green). Note I just question it's suggested use for everything. If you want to learn a bit about ASPI, check out this link; http://aspi.radified.com/ .

The 1.8 version is newer than the 1.7 download here at AD.
