Hi all...I am a new member to afterdawn and I just started to get a problem when I try to burn a DVD after I have converted a .AVI file to DVD format using The Film Machine. I have burned many DVD's after a conversion from .AVI to DVD but all of a sudden this problem has occured. I have no problem burning a DVD using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 but all my DVD's have become coasters using Nero Burning ROM after a conversion. I have uninstalled Nero and ran the clean tools and did a fresh install of Nero 7.0.8.2 but still no luck. Here is my latest log for the experts to look at. Thanks

    Hi kwyj1b0
You may need a firmware upate - the log only shows your discs as +R - no manufacturer or media specific info which is usually shown in the logs.
What is the make and model of the drive?
Nero is just listing a somewhat generic drive.

What brand of media are you using also?

Your log shows a successfully burn - so when you mean coaster is it because of playbck issues?

It looks like your burning an iso - you can also use Clone or DVD Decrypter to do those alos if nero is still giving you a problem.
Here's a link for DVD Decrypter if needed:

My DVD is just a generic CompUSA 16 X 12 DUAL with the firmware at rev 1.02. It has never let me down before and it just surprises me that all of a sudden the finished DVD will not play on my DVD player. The finished disk plays fine on my PC's DVD player and I could watch the movie if I wanted to but the kids want to watch it on there TV.

My media is Verbatim 16x and so far I have not had a bit of trouble with that either so I don't think the media is the problem.

    Thanks

    Your using great media.
So the only time you have playback problems is recently w/ burning rom.

What dvd format are trying to burn w/ burning rom? Like is it an iso file, video_ts folder (contains vob, ifo files etc)

Is Nero giving you any pop messages when you add the file(s)?

    edit: spelling
