my nero 7 edition can't recognize my dvd writer as a dvd! when i put a dvd disk into the driver and run it with nero showtime,it shows the error massage "Unexpected dvd error" and fails to run the movie...On the other hand, when I open the same dvd disk on the same drive with Window Media Player 11, it plays the movie normally. Can anyone help me plz?

Uninstall nero using the clean tool found here (don't use the add/remove programs app) for your version of nero.

    clean tools
    http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-cleantools.html

Reinstall nero and retry playing the DVD. If the problem isn't solved by doing this, then it's possible you need a audio/video codec to help nero out. Download and install ffdshow found here:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm

Or XP codec pack found here:

    http://www.xpcodecpack.com/

Once installed, try using nero to play the DVD.

I 've done all the proceedure and installed only ffdshow. I admit there is a positive progress. Now, either it shows the error message "Unable to read part of a file on the DVD. Playback may be affected." and crashes, or it plays only the sound on the titles menu (no picture) and the rest of movie normally. I believe we're close to the solution...Any more ideas?
