Hi, I'm trying to use Nero CD/DVD Speed to test some DVD-R, DVD+R media. Under the Disc Quality Tab when I Press Start all I get is " Error Initializing Test" I have a NEC 2500A usb external drive. That I recently updated with Herrie107v2b5 firmware to enable bitsetting. I have Nero CD-DVD Speed Version 4.04 Can anybody please help me with this ??
Is that the only drive you have? Have you tried with other drives (ie your burner and dvd-rom drive) to see if you'll have a successful reading? I can't help much because I don't have any NEC burner. Hopefully someone with the same drive/model will help you resolve in due time.
Yes, I also have a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD, CD Burner/DVD player. When I tried to run a test usung that drive the start button was grayed out, and would not even let me attempt to ruin a test ?? I also downloaded Nero CD?DVD Speed Version 4.10 and still get same problems. Can you not run tests using external usb DVD burners and internal DVD Rom drives??
Were you able to click on "Disc Quality" at all? Hmmm... I can't say yes or no, since I don't have any external burner via USB. Hey, why don't you "uninstall or get Nero's clean tool" to completely clean Nero from your system first. Then do a fresh reinstall Nero back on (REMEMBER DON'T install InCD or Roxio).
Yes, when I click on the Disk Quality Tab it comes up and under when my DVD Rom drive is selected it gives info on Type, ID, Date, and Label, but the Start button is grayed out & cannot be pressed. With my external DVD Burner it also gives the Type, ID, Date, and Label, but when I press start I get the error intializing test message. I don't know if InCd is installed or not I can't find it anywhere. Why is InCd bad ? Also what is Nero's Clean Tool ?
InCD is horrible and it conflicts with Nero when you're burning using Nero Express or Nero Burning Rom. Nero's Clean Tool is a cleaning tool that "uninstall or clean" all of Nero's products/applications in prior to install a new Nero version on your system. Try to have Nero's Clean Tool clean Nero from your system and do a fresh reinstall and see how it goes.
