Hi I am new to burning and just want to know in Nero can you convert a .cda file (CD track) to mp3 format? Or do I have to pay for another program?? Any for free? Is this what LAME is for?? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
I've got another language version than english so the commands could be slightly different: Nero mp3 plugin is sold seperately so you need to pay or use Mausau's lame plugin, available at http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/ . Proceeding in Nero: Install Plugin -> Start Nero -> Recorder -> Save Track -> Chose Drive -> <Do what you want with Database feature appearing next, e.g. Cancel> -> Highlight Tracks -> Choose Output file format LAME MP3 -> Settings: <what you want> ... Problem: lame's best settings (--alt-presets) don't seem to be supported in the plugin's settings. To get best possible quality/bitrate ratio for mp3 you should use Exact Audio Copy + Lame 3.90.2 (or 3.92), both free software available at www.afterdawn.com. A good Guide how to set it up has been mentioned recently several times in this forum.
