HEY ALL....Well my question is probably a simple one yet I have no clue what to do. It seems when I add am Avi file to a dvd project ..using Nerovision....before the avi is converted and burned to disc it has used at least 20 gigs of my space and I only have 20.5 available on my pc....what can I do about this. It alwys stops because it runs out of space to finish converting.

Also is there a setting that will burn a dvd at a quicker rate...I am currently spending 9 - 12 hours on one dvd...is that normal???

Hope you guys can help...You alsways seem to know the answers...Thanks!!

Wow more then 20 gig for one avi. Is this some sort of hd avi? About the only thing you can do is free up more space.

9-12 hours dont seem normal but then again as before it will depend on what is the avi.

Just a regualar avi movie...such as sling blade or the exorcist. Nothing different from any other avi's, there must be some kind of setting on nero ..to fix this.

Also...just I use a different converter for my avi's and then burn with nero? Would that be quicker and better quality?

There is realy no such thing as a regualar AVI movie it will be codec dependant.

Another app to convert may be faster. May or may not be better quality.

Something is definitely wrong with those files. Are you converting one AVI or 4 or 5 AVI files at once? Because one 700MB AVI movie can change into 4.35GB already, so if you're converting 5 AVI files at once into DVD, then all of those will add up to at least 20GB or more. I don't recommend converting 4 AVI movies at once. Just convert, encode one at a time. Disregard this if you only converted/did one at a time.

I have the exact same problem...I want to burn a single 700Mb AVI file to a playable DVD using Nero Vision Express...I have 23GB of free space in my D drive, and while transcoding the file Nero will eat up all the space and throw me an error message saying I have no space left...

HereĀ“s a bit of info I could get from he AVI file.
Video Source: TV Rip (5000kb/s MP2)
    Video Codec: XviD-1.1.0b1
    Video Bitrate: 994kb/s
    Video Resolution: 640 x 388
    Video FPS: 29.97
    Video Aspect Ratio: Widescreen
    Audio Codec: MP3
    Audio Bitrate: 128kb/s
    Audio Channels: 2 (Stereo)
    RunTime Per Part: 1:26:42
    Number of Parts: 1
    Part Size: 700MB

    Any reason for this?

Post a nero burn log. 9-12 hrs on one DVD is not normal, unless you have many problems going on at once, and are using an old/slow pc.
You can find the log in these locations depending on what version of nero you are using:
    [bold]Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt[/bold]
These things record all burns, and we only need the last one. The burns are seperated by something like this
that was from a nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and edit out your numbers by typing xxxx over the numbers.
Once you put a log up, ppl can start pointing out your problems and showing you how to fix them.
