I have a PS2 with a DMS chip running ToxicOS. Plays backups fine. The problem is every game I try to backup myself with Nero won't work when burning the image to DVD. What's the issue? What do I need to do to fix it? I have tried both Nero 6 Ultra and Nero 7 Premium. I should also note that Gamejack 5 doesn't work either, Nor any other PS2 game copying methods. Gamejack detects the copy protection on most of the games as level 3 out of 10, so it shouldn't be any special copy protection that is giving me the problems. Please see the log below and let me know what I need to do to get the disk image copied onto disk. I am using quality DVD+R's, but it doesnt even get that far... I get the error before it actually writes ANYTHING to the disk (the disk is still blank after the Nero error). I have also tried both disk to disk copy and burning an image first then burning the image to disk. Same errors both ways. Please help. Here is the log file from Nero 7... Was the firmware update before or after this log? From looking at that log I can only guess your burner is BTC. I do see you have lots runing in background at time of burn. Not reccomend. Your aspi is old, needs to be updated. Your burner dont like the media. Firmware update might change that. Again is that log before or after the firmware update you mentioned?
The log was before. I've updated to the newest firmare for my dvd drive... still the same problem. I also tried closing out everything possible, such as antivirus and the like. I am getting the same problem with every piece of dvd copy software possible... even dvd decrypter.
In that case it may be the aspi layer you are using. You can get the update from here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm Also just closing apps you can see is not always good enough. You may need to stop processes that are runing in the background. Search for enditall2 and download it and run it right before burning.

You can check your ASPI with nero info tool. You should see something like this: Also here is what AD says about ASPI layers and how to install them: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/aspisetup.cfm It also looks like you may be having a media problem Try using good media Verbatim, and Made in Japan Fuji, Sony, Maxell.
Maxburns suggestion of better media is good suggestion. Getting into those playstation backups is something I can not help with much. I dont do games. I did notice though then You are trying to write at 8x on media that is 2.4x rated. Ricohjpn is not bad media but not top notch.
I had a problem with backing up ps2 games in Nero also. I broke the process into two pieces and it works fine. I use DVD-R Use Copy DVD in Startsmart. Pay attention to where Nero files the created image. When the reading process is done and Nero asks you to insert blank, exit out of the process. Reopen Burning Rom, select Burn Image from the Recorder menu. Open the image that Nero had just copied from your game. In your menu window that will pop up change the write speed to 4X (you'll have to lower yours to 2.4X, per your blank media) and burn away. Works everytime for me.
