Nero doesn't recognize burner

    Hi,
    I am trying to burn a movie onto a DVD using nero. When I move over the files and click to burn nero thinks a dvd is my burner when there isn't one. Nero thinks that the burn is successful when its not. I am having the same problem burning a cd. It almost seems that nero doesn't recognize the drive. I have a new dell laptop with xp and I have nero 6.0. I used nero on my old pc and never had these problems. Any idea what could be wrong?
