Hi first post woohoo, Ok this has been bugging me for a while so I decided to delve into the vast knowledge of the forums. Any time u try and use Nero to burn any type of dvd (have tried DVD-ROM isos, Dvd-videos, dvd-audio). In this instance i was using Nero Burning Rom to burn a load of random data (about 2.5G) to a DVD-RW. Any help would be appreciated. Hi Congogo Welcome to aD Have you tried another other types or brands of discs besides DVD-RW? The RW discs you are using are made by Ritek - okay. Better to use would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. Looks like from the log the RW disc you used needed to be erased: This disc is not empty. (Medium in drive: DVD-RW. Medium required by compilation: DVD R/RW, DVD R DL.) VMS. Disc was erased successfully. Accessing disc... You may want to try doing a full erase on this disc. Or try one that hasn't been written to yet. Looks like this is a Lite-On SHW-160P6S couldn't find much on it. May want to try the firmware update for the 160P6S - PSOB http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2175 512mb in memory would be better. Add more if you can. In the mean time gree up as much as you can and no multi tasking.
thanks for the suggestions binkie, memory upgrade might be a little difficult as I have one of those dells which uses RIMM memory, so its a little pricey to upgrade. Will try shutting off the wireless connection and close a few processes, I noticed things like Ipodhelper dont need to be running, especially since my ipod broke, but thats another story.
So i cancelled every process i could to maximize memory but no joy. The firmware suggested is not for my drive (it just has an error box saying its for the Lite-On SHW-160P6S which is not found). Other media isnt an option at the moment but i will try and get some tomorrow. the newest log: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=45056 bytes, created 10/09/1999 12:06:00 ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 02/11/2004 13:54:32 NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.5.1.1 Internal Version: 7, 5, 1, 1 Recorder: <DVDRW DRW-6S160P> Version: PSG6 - HA 1 TA 2 - 7.5.1.1 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? Hi congogo Same error this time again - write error. Looks like the drive isn't liking these Ritek RW. Same disc or did you try one not written to yet? Eveything I found on this drive had it as on oem LiteOn SHW-160P6S. Liteon offers no support for it. Try some of the media recommended above and let's see how that goes. I'll see if I can find something else on this drive too.
