up until now my dvd player had played every single dvd-r/+r i've thrown at it.

i recently bought nero & burnt some data onto a dvd. it wouldn't play on my dvd player. i've tested my dvd player with another dvd-r/+r that i burnt in the past & it played fine. i tested the dvd i burnt with nero on my sister's dvd player & it worked fine. so i know there are no problems with the disc itself.

so. i was thinking maybe there are some settings i need to change on nero? to make it more region free?

i used nero a long time ago, on a different pc, but can't for the life of me remember how to change things like this. any help would be appreciated.

How did it not play the DVD? Would it not recognize the DVD or was the video bad?

Use one of the programs, like Nero Burning ROM, or such, to look at the disc information. There should be a "book type" setting for DVD-ROM. I am assuming, because the disc is not read by the player that the player is older and needs a disc designated as a DVD-ROM to work.

If you burn the disc as DVD-ROM and the video is messed up, you may have to change the default interlace settings from progressive to interlaced. This would show up as video that appears to be running down the screen.
