I just bought a brand new dw1650 and first dvd i tried was a coaster

i'v tried burning about 15 disc now from vertabim to sony to no name brands

out of 15 2 worked ..and then i tried with the same disc again , it did not. i bought the dw1650 to replace my old gigabyte which for some reason did the same thing. so i guess it aint the recorder but something with the software.

i tried with roxio / alcohol and nero all errors
on both writers and differenent discs

    here is my nero log

This is driving me insane !

    I installed nero wnaspi32.dll
    I undated to latest firmware
    tried almost everything
    even a new IDE(80) cable.
    disabled AV
    disabled Virtual Drives
    no luck.

    As i said 2 different writers , 15 different discs - 2 sucessfull writes.
the writers work fine on my friends computer !

    Anyone any idea's ????
I would rilly apreciate it !

Nero is a little behind, update to 6.6.0.18 here: http://my.afterdawn.com/locoeng/blog_entry.cfm/280

My memory is a little foggy, so I'm not sure if a Raid setup can have DMA enabled. Usually DMA needs to be on for all drives.

Usually your burner will show up on this line as well as the information listed here. I'm wondering if when you installed the drive it was done correctly. You say you've tried on two different burners, is there another burner on your puter? It's not showing up.

This means that your are asking your burner to do something it can't do...see above statement.

This means that your drive doesn't like your media, but the brands you listed should be good.

Update Nero and see if there is any improvement.

I'm really more concerned with the top of your log, because Nero doesn't appear to be recognizing your burner properly.

Have you tried to create an ISO image with DVD Shrink and burn with DVD Decrypter of Imgburn?

Something is blowing your 2 gig file up to 4.1 gigs. Do you still have Roxio installed on your system? It causes major headaches with Nero. I'm still concerned with the way your drive is hooked up, something isn't right there.

  7. v4mpyre

    v4mpyre Guest

sorry that log i posed was on an instance where i was copying 4.1gb
i'v tried copying all sorts of stuff and difference sizes.

Roxio is uninstalled. after it failed.

What could wronge with the way the drive if hooked up ?
it's set to master on the jumpers. on the 1st slot on the IDE cable(80) and it is the only device on IDE(1) interface.
this is also the second ide cable i'v tried

    Another interesting thing.
It just burnt a disk now , and fails on the next one
but the disc it burnt wont read in the burner but reads on my notebook dvdrom ???
    wtf is going on !
