When I start up nero or access it via shrink - it ejects my disc tray - it also does this when burning, then terminates the burn. During the burning process, it will not let me close the tray. Prior to installing nero I had no problems burning single layer with decrypter. Can anyone please help me with this?

    - what's the name of this burner ?

    - you're burning too close to the outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size in Shrink's preferences to 4300MB, thus avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space

    - you're using the most atrocious utter rubbish media there is, i'm afraid. Buy better media

thanks for taking a look at it - I'm such a newbie.... I'm not sure what the driver is called. It says that the provider is microsoft version 5.1.2535.0 - if this is of any help at all?? The discs were thrown in when I bought the computer - I'll buy better ones straight away.

Thanks also for the advice about the shrink target size, have changed it now.

it's ok, i'm just trying to establish the exact burner you have, the 'DVDRW IDE1004' is a very generic name which suggests it could be one of a handful of different drives 'rebadged' to sell with a PC. Did the burner come with the PC, if so what make is the PC ?, we can maybe figure it out from there

fingers crossed - I just burned a dvd with no error/failure! I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive and nero - did a reboot - fixed the shrink target size - bought some good discs and something has decided to work for me. By the way - yes, the burner came with the pc - it's a packard bell (not great, I know) iMedia Z849. I am thinking of buying a better burner pretty soon. Thanks again for your advice - I was really frustrated.
