    - too old, update to 6.6.0.16 from here - ' http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php '

    - your firmware is a little out of date, however as you say say you're not au fait with hardware etc, it should keep for another day..

DMA needs to be ON, fix it via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - make sure to close down more programs prior to burning, you're running out of free memory

    - not sure if you're intending to do multisession discs or not ?

    - good grief, if never heard of that disc manufacturer before

    - dunno what's going on there ?...

    - splat!

    - simulation is a good idea for testing your setup without actually writing to discs.

    - those question marks are saying your drivers aren't loaded correctly. Fixing DMA as described further up my reply, will sort this bit out.

Basically you need to sort out the DMA drivers, and i would update Nero too.. see how you get on and report back with progress good or bad.

Edited.... Creaky beat me to it.

Your LG CD burner's firmware is old, the current firmware is 2.0 - go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=533 and download the lattest 2.0 to run and it will update your burner's drive. Updating your firmware can be very useful, it will recognize more cd-r media and codes - not only that but it will increase compatibility and performances as well. (NOTE: make sure no cd is inside your drive in prior to updating.)

Your DMA is OFF, all of them needs to be ON. To enable your DMA back on (for Windows XP users).

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" it's driver “for Win XP users”))

    A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER", left click on "PROPERTIES"
    B) left click on "HARDWARE", left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
    C) left click on +sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
    D) double left click on your DVD burner or your dvd-rom drive
    E) left click on "DRIVER", left click on "UNINSTALL", you will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system", just click "OK", now "SHUTDOWN" or "restart" your computer
    F) once you restart your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner’s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "uninstall" it from the “IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers”

    (A) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
    (B) double left click on either "Primary" or "Secondary IDE Channel" (NOTE: you have to know where your "DVD Burner" or "DVD-ROM drive" is installed to what Channel). Usually it's the "Secondary IDE Channel" because your "C: drive or Hard Drive" would be the main aka Primary IDE Channel already. If you're not sure, then you need to check it with "Nero Toolkit" first before you "uninstall" any of them. Once you verify with Nero Toolkit, then you can continue with the next step.
    (C) click on "DRIVER", "UNINSTALL", "OK" and then "shutdown" or "restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!

NOTE: To verify your dvd burner/dvd-rom drivers with Nero:
Open up "StartSmart", click on "Nero Toolkit", then click on "Nero InfoTool" (InfoTool will run and retrieve all drivers), now click on "Configuration" - this should show you where your DVD Burner/DVD-ROM is installed under either Primary or Secondary <--- make good note of that and you're ready to "uninstall" your dvd burner/dvd-rom drivers now.

This is kind of low for burnings, you need to disable some of your running programs that you don't neccessary need it, and release/free up more memory if you can (to do that, go to Start, Run, type: msconfig and enter, then STARTUP and disable any programs you don't need to run. Or "ctrl+alt+delete", Processes, and End Process any of the running programs you don't need at this time. It would be nice if you can upgrade another 256MB to it. This definitely would help out a lot.

Again, your LG cd burner doesn't like the media, and or it can't recognize the media at all. An update on the firmware will solve this.

Since you're doing a "simulation", but your drive cannot read/recognize the blank media. See above reply.

Even if it's a CD burning, try to go at least 8X, it's much safer that way.
