I am using Nero 9, Windows XP Media Center Edition. I am attempting to copy a DVD disk to another DVD disk.

After starting up Nero 9, I get error message saying "Not enough space to copy this disk".

What I do not understand and need to know, is the error message referring to not enough space on the hard drive, or in the computer's internal ram memory, or somewhere else?

Any help in understanding where space is needed would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot solve a problem without knowing what the problem is.

    best, Aaron

I'm not sure at what stage you are getting the error, but some things might be:
If this is a commercial movie disk (a protected disk) Nero won't copy it anyway.
If the source disk is a DL disk (~8GB) it won't copy to a single layer (~4.4 GB) disk.
There may not be enough room on the HDD to accommodate the files (Nero reads the disk and stores the file, then creates a second image file to burn to the blank).

For unprotected DVD's, an alternative is to use ImgBurn.
Select 'Create image file from disc' then 'Write image file to disc'.
The disadvantage is that it requires two steps - but for burning, ImgBurn is the best.
The advantage of two steps is that you have a better idea where the problem might be if it happens again.

Dear Attar: After struggling with Nero & DVD Shrink and Windows 7, nothing worked.
I did try using ImagBurn, but I did not understand that it required two steps.
Therefore, after reading your post, I did try "first create image file from disk" and then used "write image from disk", and guess what, I then had a disk that worked on my dvd player.

Would you know, however, what the steps might be to use ImgBurn with DVD Shrink?. I do not see where the option might be to use ImgBurn when burning a disk. It tries to automatically burn with Nero.

In any event, as you started me in the right direction, my appreciation is PARAMOUNT, and
I extend to you 100,000 THANK YOUS! Aaron
