I have had an Emerson DVD recorder that I record my discs on, and I have never had a problem using recode to copy those discs.

I just recently bought a Samsung DVD recorder and started making DVD's with that, BUT then when I went to put in a disc recorded from that recorder, Nero comes up right away when it starts to "Import"
It starts to read it & starts showing the menu & going through the video content and immediately it comes up & says this:

Nero Recode encountered an error and cannot continue
    Internal Error

There are nothing wrong with the discs, I played them in both the Samsung & the Emerson
    Any ideas?

Sounds like a copy protect error or file structure problem, what program did you use to rip the video files to your hard drive?

Since DVD shrink's transcode engine is the same as nero's recode, shrink will produce a similar erorr when trying to copy a DVD with copy protection on it it can't handle, or when trying to open files ripped to the hard drive by another application/ripper.

The only thing I have ever done is copy my material from VHS to DVD, and then duplicate the DVD by going into Nero Recode 2, "Recode an Entire DVD to DVD" and it has always worked on DVD's recorded on my Emerson.

I have never used any other ripping program or DVD shrink.

I'm wondering if the problem exists where my Samsung might be "copy protecting" every DVD I burn, and maybe that's whey Nero Recode won't do it? It sounds weird, but the only thing I can think of...
which, if that's the case, that will be a problem, because my discs need to be able to be duplicated...

If it's a copy protected VHS tape, then it's possible that the issue is microvision protection. This can be easily removed using a free ripper/decrypter called DVDFab decrypter.

    Get it here:
    http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

    Here's a guide on use:
    http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvdfab_decrypter.php

Once you've gone/transfered from VHS to DVD, run DVDFab decrypter and process the files with it, DVDFab will create a new set of files on your hard drive (in a VIDEO_TS folder), you will now open these new files using nero recode 2 and proceed as you normally would.

Did your Emerson create DVD+/-R or DVD+/-VR copies? How about the Samsung? Maybe you're looking at a change of format problem here ...
