    Looks like that burner needs a firmware update to version PDS7, you can get it here;
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1965

    Just click on the PDS7 choice to get the download, run the file and follow the install instructions.

    If the update doesn't fix the burn error, you should try using a different bran of media like verbatim. Keep your burn/write speeds down to 1/2 the rated speed of the media and you should be ok.

    I tried your advice and it seemed like the process went further along, but still got an error. Here's the new log. (and I've been using Verbatim) Thanks again.

    Two things to try.

    Here:
    Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
    Last address to be written: 2225327 (494:31.02, 4346MB)

    You may be burning too close to the disk's outer edge, so have shrink or nero recode create smaller file sizes to try and stay away from the edge. Have shrink or nero create custom file sizes of 4300mb. In shrink goto:edit--preferences, in the preferences tab choose custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300. If using recode, change target size from DVD-5 to a custom of 4300.

    Here:

    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    This area indicates that the media still isn't being correctly recognized and so the burner may not be writing to it correctly. Try another brand like sony (made in japan), or check with the burner's website and see if there is a recommended media list available.

    Ill pop in here with a few things i noticed in the last log.
    For DVD ripping the minimum is what you have. You do have 140MB free, but if you can, try to kill off as many programs as you can before burning to free up more memory. That might help, but i think i see a couple things you could change that might help.
    You switched to good media, but it is -R and you have a small conflict in Nero when you have the box checked for
    and you are using -R discs.
    That is for booktyping a +R disc. It was in your other log also. I suggest you try some +R media (leaving the high compat. on), and/or turn off both the speed measurment, and the high compatibility mode for the -R. Let me see if i can paste a shot of it.
    The speed measurement is not needed as you will be trying to burn at 4x. I thought i saw in one of the logs your source data transfer was too low to do an 8x or higher burn. I found the speed measurment box in nero burning rom and express, but i cant seem to find the "high compatibility mode box" Let me post this first, and ill post again when i find the other one.
