Hi, if anyone could provide some pointers... many thanks in advance.

I've just brought a LG DVD writer and came with bundled Nero Express 6.6.0.15. I was attempting to clone DVD movie into DVD-R, some titles were successfully burned while other titles were consistently halted with "Reading disc failed" at the source disc toward the final 90+% progress bar.

Below is the error log. Any cure? or should i use other s/w?

Nero 7 will not help here....

    - not too bad, 6.6.0.18 is latest 6.x version

    - it would appear there's no newer firmware for this burner yet...

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - you appear to be trying to copy a single layered discs's-worth of data from a dual layer disc that your burner's firmware is unable to recognise

    - see previous comment. you need to try different discs, that your burner's firmware can recognise..

    - InCD is Nero's horrid 'packet writing software', uninstall Nero then uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, then reinstall Nero WITHOUT installing InCD

1st would like to apologise to 2x posting... realised "nero dicussion" is more appropriate...

    Thanks creaky for the dissects.

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

== the the HDD DMA is already on, the other CDRW/DVD is not involve in this burning process. hence, may not try now...;<

    - you appear to be trying to copy a single layered discs's-worth of data from a dual layer disc that your burner's firmware is unable to recognise

== Yap, my friend who pass me the disc may have strip from dual layer to single layer. His disc (the source) is perform playing. Does that affect my burner unable to recongnise? strange. Don't know what action to take here.

    - see previous comment. you need to try different discs, that your burner's firmware can recognise..

== if you meant trying different target disc such as DVD+R or DVD+-RW types? can work on this and let you know if it works...:>

    - InCD is Nero's horrid 'packet writing software', uninstall Nero then uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, then reinstall Nero WITHOUT installing InCD

== ok, with do this 1st!

you still need to do the DMA stuff though as any drives not in DMA mode will be in 'PIO' mode, and will drag the speed of all other drives down..

I've performed DMA on and uninstallation of InCD, reinstall Nero. However, Burn failed error still persists.

should i try this then? "== if you meant trying different target disc such as DVD+R or DVD+-RW types?"

    OR

it is a situation of "== Yap, my friend who pass me the disc may have strip from dual layer to single layer. His disc (the source) is perform playing. Does that affect my burner unable to recongnise? "
if yes, what do i do?

can still see 2 problems - InCD is still there, also the same discs are being used - your burner can't recognise these discs so it's no wonder it's not working

Hey Creaky: Long time no talk. I use Ner 6.6.0.18 and have no problems so I have been hesitant to upgrade because of all the problems I have been reading above in the new Version 7. Whats your take on it?

    hey stranger, how's it going.

i've simply no need to ever go 7.x myself as i only do straight dvd burns/data & cd burns so Burning Rom 6.x is more than sufficient for me.

i see there are loads of teething problems with 7.x but there always are with new stuff. Alkohol is getting on great with 7.x and he uses stuff like Recode etc..

i would say up to you!

I thought I've uninstalled InCD with reboot, and then selected installation without InCD. I did these without using Nero's Clean Tools. I simply uninstall program add/remove. Is there such a tool? I've searched here and Nero's website... did not find any.

    What should I do now?
