I am stumped. My Nero Express Quick copy used to work PERFECT. I could place a recorded copy of a DVD+R in my top tray and a blank in the bottom. Click copy and everything would burn according to the blank disc speed. 8X discs always burned at about 8 minutes. Now it seems if I put a blank 8X disc in everything starts out great like it always did. The remaining time says about 8 minutes. When the 8 minutes is up, the time remaining zero's out and refreshes to an additional 7 minutes. WHY?? Why are my 16X blanks doing the same? They start out at 5 minutes remaining, only to bottom out and end up taking 10 to 12 minutes. Help! I've tried the drive speed thingy too.
Anyone ever have this problem before. Please reply my btrain cells are cooked... Mark

The smart burn tech that is being implemented in the burners now days is doing it. It is trying to make sure you get a good burn. Falls short most of the time. Best to not be in such a hurry from the start to insure good burn.

What it is doing is starting off burning at whatever speed you tell it to if the media can take the speed. Then when the smart burn sees that it is not going to be good it starts to slow down the burn speed on it own.

So it's the burner NOT the Nero program? I just thought i messed something up. Some blank DVD brands burn faster than others? Why is that when it's the same speed blank?

If you are burning "on the fly" the burner can only go as fast as the reader.

The media discriptor on the disk sets the write stratigy in the firmware. So it will change as brands of disk change. Thats why it is best to use good media and stick with it. The better your burner likes a brand the better the burn will be.

This will happen in some instances writeing from the hard drive. But will happen often when doing disk to disk.

Arnie this has never happened in the past it's as if I configured something wrong. DVD shrink burns all different speeds of discs accordingly! 16X blanks in about 4 minutes. Like quick copy USED to do fo NERO! That's off the hard drive. I am NOT a rookie...just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST
