Hi there...I've burned Dual Layer DVD's before with no problems but recently I've had 9 fails using Nero, ImgBurn, and DVDShrink with Verbatim DVD+R DL disks burning at 2.4x speed. Both my internal DVD burner - NEC ND-3550A and external DVD burner - LG GE20LU11 have failed giving me error's like "could not perform Disc-at-once", "Session Fixing Error" or "Power Calibration Error" It seems to always fail when switching to burn layer 2. Below are the last two fail logs I've had. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It happened to me too... only to find out that it my dvd writer incompatibility. anyway since you've tested it before then it may be something else. how about your dvd media. try other brand. good luck.
The 3550 is an old drive.. they are really not keen on D/L disks.. I know because I have one. as for HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GE20LU11 .. a pile of crap.. useless OEM rubbish. go out and buy a good modern burner.. something like a pioneer 116 or above will do nicely and they are dirt cheap.. no more than 50 d/l disks... which you WILL waste unless you get a quality modern burner.. not a nice old NEC antique (superb s/l burner.. probably one of the best ever made.. hence the high price even used.. so keep hold of it) or a lump of OEM junk..
Thank you for your quick replies and your suggestion scum101... unfortunately I spent the last of my money on the external LG GE20LU11 dvd burner and Verbatim DVD DL disks 30 pack so I'm stuck with what I have for a bit. I bought the LG burner because it had the most compatibility with multiple formats and media that I needed listed...bad move I guess. I tried doing a DL burn on my wife's PC with the external LG burner but that failed as well while switching to burn layer 2. Why do all these burns always fail during the layer 2 break? Could it be the actual Video TS files I'm trying to burn? I'll look into buying a new external dvd burner as soon as I can but in the meantime is there anything that can be done? Thanks.
