I proofed my first backup made through dvd shrink and then tried the disk to disk routine in Nero. Nero got about a third into it and failed at 16x, the max speed of my OEM BenQ 1620 dual layer. Is this a speed problem or possibly a content protection issue? This original dvd piece shows no copy protect or region limitation either. I no longer have the DVD Shrink image file due to disk storage limitation issues. Should I try the Nero at a slower speed or use kb3? kb3 is the program for Linux. I'm concerned that the DVD shrink process may have prevented some progs from running a burn. Please advise
Is this a speed problem. in the question may lie the answer. what is your min speed see if this helps. only guessing try this and post results
Thanks for the reply. I read a few threads and then tried a repeat at the slowest speed and had better success. Like a previous poster said, he didn't know why they bother to put 16x or whatever on drives when the successful burn will occur at a lower speed almost exclusively. Maybe this is in the FAQ. If not it should be a Cardinal Rule to avoid waste. Other thing that Nero could change to prevent waste is to not have the _default_ burn setting at maximum. As a noob, I will use whatever defaults are set and this pretty much guarantees early failures.
