Hey guys, hope someone can help me here after scouring the net trying to find the solution to what appears to be a universal problem. Well, just like everyone else who has posted a thread like this, I have never had a problem before burning things with nero on this computer until a while back. Since then I have tried to update the firmware and drivers on my DVD Drive, but nothing seems to have helped. I've read suggestions about upgrading nero, and even defragging my hard drive, but again this hasn't helped the problem. I have the error logs from when I tried to burn from Nero 7 and also from Nero 8 now, but I'll post first the Nero 8 report unless someone needs to see the Nero 7 error log. Also, don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have a HP DVD200i drive, but on my computer it is listed as 200j, for some reason. I don't know if anyone would know about that. By looking at your drive's spec, it supports only DVD+R and DVD+RW at 2.4x as writable DVD media. I believe you need a new drive.
Yeah, I am using a pretty old computer, and the drive itself isn't as new as the computer itself, if only by a couple of months. The funny thing is, I used to be able to burn just fine with it. DVD's and just plain CD's as well, and now I can't do both. If it makes a difference, I tried to use both Memorex DVD+R (16x) disks and Maxell DVD+R (16x) disks as well. I don't have access to DVD-R disks so I don't know if that would make a difference. But if there is nothing more I can do besides get a new drive, I was planning to buy a new HP PC anyway. DVD-R will not work, your drive was not meant to use them. Your drive is old...in drive years,very old(it can burn at maximum 2.4X). Your firmware, even though is the latest available, is from 2004. At that time, DVD+R 16X speed were probably not even born, or very new. If you would find some older discs(4X, 8X), you might be able to use this burner. Otherwise, just keep it as a reader and buy a new one-should be able to find some really good ones for ~$20.
