Hi eritak23 First let'd edit out your serial # - at top of log and begins w/ 1C. Don't need someone else using it. The firmware update for your drive - may need one but off the bat I can't find one for you. You should check the laptop manufacturers site - they will more than likely be the ones supporting the drive. Your drive does fully recognize the media though. Disc Manufacturer ID: MBIPG101 - Moser Baer - not the best though. Better would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. Take this down to 4x. Reduce the burn speed and let us know how that goes.
I had already tried the lower burn speed...heres an example...ive tried so many burns and saved a bunch of the logs...so i dont know exactly about this one...the reason i mention it is that ive tried a couple different types of media: memorex and phillips most recently as for finding firmware from company...i checked the hp site before and tried to download the latest but it downloaded as a .DLD file and the program it came with to, im guessing, open the file but it says that the "program cannot be used with the selected device" thanks for your help...any other suggestions would be most appreciated...sorry im such a newb with this...lol -------------------------------------------------------------- Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 1:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.2.3.2 Internal Version: 7, 2, 3, 2 Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R>Version: HA04 - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.2.3.2 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? This next log doesn't have the greatest media either Disc Manufacturer ID: OPTODISC Another 16x media brand giving you a Write error & Illegal disc error. Both brands you mention aren't that great. Have you tried 8x media or any of the brands listed in my post above? Another option is to try a different burning program. What are you burning - looks like a video_ts folder from a dvd. The firmware - not to fimilar w/ a .dld file - I think it's a lotus file type (?)
Personally, I dont like any version of Nero7 after version 7.0.8.2. I recommend you uninstall 7.2.3.2, run the clean tool,http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and install 7.0.8.2 from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 agree with binkie7's comments on your choice of media.
@Gwen Don't know if a lower version of Nero will take care of this - might. But from the rated burn speed & media being used I'm thinking more along those lines. Using another free program to burn can help pinpoint the problem. Lappy's w/ no support so far on their burners are a bit picky on what they like
