Your DMA is off on your burner! Here is how to turn it back on: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues upgrade your firmware to MSOP: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php search your for your drive and download the MSOP firmware. when you run the firmware you pick your drive to do the update to and it will update your firmware for that drive only...... mistake proof! Firmware for your burner as that sets new write strategies for new media thats out.. Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. Every company has its own methods to allow you to do a firmware upgrade. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. Your media (Fuji DVD-R) is the culpret. Use better media. Fuji is second class media at best unless it's [bold]made in Japan[/bold].... [bold]Yours is not![/bold] Use media that says MIJ on the lable! or use Verbatim.... that's the only exception to the MIJ rule and the only Taiwan disks I'll use! Other lower quality media will give you problems and error out like what you are having now: you are running Nero 7: As for Nero 7 the new version 7.5.1.1 is about the most stable, get it from http://www.nero.com Or 7.0.8.2, which I think is still available here. http://www.filehippo.com ok...... this is what you do: 1. save your serial # 2. uninstall Nero 3. use the Nero 7 Cleaning tools: http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html 4. do a registry clean up, and if you don't have a program to do the job, get one free one here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/ 5. defrag the hard drive 6. reboot 7. reinstall Nero 7: links are above! if you do these updates and adjustments you'll have better results!
Cheers mate! After flashin the firmware everything is fine. I am a sucker for cheap throw away discs, will get some decent ones soon though. Thanks a million again, response so quick after posting and now the huge thorn in my arse has been removed.
Just to re inforce what IHoe has said, the first version of Nero7.....7.0.0.0 was in fact a "buggy" version...do as advised, get rid of it and update, you wont regret it!! Heres the links for 7.0.8.2 and 7.2.7.0 7.0.8.2 http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 7.2.7.0 http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?1493
@Gwendolin....... Arniebear said that 7.5.1.1 is also stable..... I knew about 7.0.8.2, so 7.2.7.0 is also stable....... boy soooooo many updates ..... I'm still using 6.6.0.18! what does version 7 have that I don't have and do I really need it??? should I update or stay with what I got?
@IHoe, I have been using version 7.0.8.2 since it's release...I did try other versions but have reverted to 7.0.8.2...I dont use too many of it's "flashy" features so Karen (binkie7) would be the best person to ask....she also likes 6.6.0.18.
