I recently upgraded the firmware on my NEC 1300a and ran DVDInfopro to change the booktype on the DVD+R media to DVD-ROM. I can burn DVD+R successfully (always could but just looking for better compatability - paritculary with my Car DVD player), but now I cannot burn DVD-R. My log file is attached. The first section is a successful +R burn, followed by the unsuccessful -R burn. Any help would be appreaciated.

    from 1st log -

    - your firmware is out of date, it's not fully detecting the details of that +R disc

    from 2nd log -

    - not too bad, 6.6.0.16 is latest

    - your firmware is 4 revisions behind, 1.0C is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1517

    - update the firmware

    - atapi drivers aren't loaded correctly, resolve via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

Thanks..I updated the firmware...seems to work (first disc has a power calibration error, but the second did not). A couple of followups:

    - Cannot find section relating to configuring ATAPI in your link?
    - This version of the firmware does not allow bitsetting, which I though would make my DVD+r media more compatable?

    Thanks again.

re ATAPI - if that one's not working correctly try this -

As to the bitsetting, might just have what you need here - http://www.herrie.org/firmwares/nec1300.html
