Basicly what the subjest is. Nero is set to burn to a DVD but thinks that it is set to CD what is the cause of this?
It could be that your burner isn't seeing the disc properly. You may need to update your firmware. What is the make and model of your burner? Also we need to know the brand and speed of the media you are trying to use.
I have a Sony DVD DRU-700A drive. And I burn to FUJIFILM DVD-RW 4.7GB. I olny have one burner in the computer. I am good with computers but I don't know what firmware is. Is that the drivers or the Nero updates themselfs. I do try to keep Nero updated.
Firmware is sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc. Will check on your dirve and post back later.
The newest firmware is VY08 for your burner. http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#700 You can check your firmware version if you have DVDDecrypter or ImgBurn. Go to Tools > Drive > click on Check for Firmware Updates. It will tell you the version installed. If it's not what I posted above, I recommend you update.
These days, saying you are using "Nero" doesn't give enough information. Which utility are you using and what steps are you taking before you get to the problem area? Have you done any cold boots during your changes? If you use Nero Info Tool, it should give all the information you need about your drive and what Nero thinks it's capabilities are.
