This seems to be happening a lot with 7.2.3.2b, which version are you using.

For the record, Nero has been having problems off and on again since version 7. I have emailed at least a dozen times and sometimes get a response. I find that I can use another program such as WinMPG or Boilsoft AVI converter to convert the avi file to mpg or the VIDEO_TS files. Then nero seems to work very well.
