hi everyone - this is my first post here. I have a question or two about Nero. I just opened it up to see what version I have. I don't know where to find that, so I'll just ask away -

I recently tried to burn an audio cd with about 12 songs on it for our band practice. I couldn't do it. I ended up with three coasters, then I decided to stop until I could get more info.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he tells me that there are programs out there that can spot corrupt mp3 files, to avoid making coasters. Would something like that be an ok idea ? What do you guys recommend ?

Step by step walk through the method you are using.

Not enough to even guess at in your post.

thanks Varnull - I did a burn simulation which turned out ok. When I go to burn the disc, it hangs up at about 23% of the burn. I get an error message about a track following error. Here's a copy of the run log - Its going to be cool to have someone be able to tell me what the problem is.
    thanks, tt

That's the reason... but I don't understand that error unless one or more of the tracks is protected somehow.

    Google revealed this..

    Error Message:
    Track Following Error
    Translation:
This error message occasionally appears when burning CD-Rs or CD-RWs in Nero. This is a hardware error that occurs when a drive is not capable of following a data track on a CD-R or CD-RW.
    Solution:
According to Nero, there are several possible reasons for this error. The problem may be as simple as using poor media. Try another disc, especially a disc with a different band. Poor power flow to your drive may also cause this problem. Try opening your system and using a different power connector. Make sure no other devices are using a power connector in the same strand. According to Ahead, if this doesn’t solve your problem you may need to send your drive in for servicing as the head may be dirty or misaligned.

I'm not a nero user.. and I'm very suspicious of those HL-DT-ST drives which are well known junk (I can buy 100 of them for £35.. ever wondered how a dual core 2 gig ram machine with vista.. which costs £120.. and a dvd burner can be had for £299 retail.. look no further)

Have a read of this.. http://www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/lookup+1/FC6A85368ABFD98ECA256CD600573628

and try some of the suggestions and see what happens. Will it burn the files as a plain data disk?.. maybe you will need to strip suspected drm from the tracks before going any further... nero has gone into drm mode.. so I have a suspicion that this may be the cause.

If nothing changes stick the files on a flash drive and try burning them on a friends machine ;)

read through again.... may be some either hardware error or a driver conflict..

    Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
    HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
    TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
    Sense Key: 0x04 (KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR)

The sony disks should be good.
