I have converted an MPEG2 file into dat file. When I'm going to write it using nero, the message I receive is that the file need to be re-encoded to the vcd format. But there's no file in my nero writing window. it is empty. What should I do?

Probably something is not compliant in your DAT file, either the video or audio or both. Nero's error message should tell you the requirements that you need.

P.S. If whatever you plan on playing this file in can handle SVCDs, you'd be better converting it to that. Much better quality and you may not need to re-encode.
