I have been burning with shrink and decrypter for a few months successfully, but suddenly now none of my discs are working. The operation completes and it says its successful, but it won't play in my player. i am using verbatim at 2x speed. My dvdrw drive came with a version of Nero (i'm not sure how complete it is, my drive is a sony dual layer rw), would this be the better choice over decrypter? or does any one have any ideas as to why it stopped working all of a sudden?

    Two programs might be conflicting.
Close Nero Icons everywhere, and try DDVD solo

i never installed the nero disc that came with my drive. i do use a process explorer and close anything with a handle on my drive prior to burning

i rip everything to the hardrive using decrypter then use shrink to encode to a .iso file, then use decrypter again to burn...but all of a sudden, the discs won't play...the process still goes the same and decrypter says the operation was completed successfully...

I used nero to burn the files to dvd. it worked fine for me. I just got the xbox dvd player. I figure, if it works in that, then it will work in everything

@riddle: Are they not playing when you burn with Decrypter as well as Nero? In Nero to burn an ISO you need to choose the Burn image file option. Maybe your player doesn't like the format your discs are (+ or -). Have you gotten any burns with the same discs to play on this player? Have you tried the burns in other players?

i haven't burned with nero yet, i haven't even installed it. my player has played my first 50 or more successful burns with shrink and decrypter fine. a few days ago, i tried to backup "Closer", but when burning i got an I/O error several times with decrypter, so i just scrapped the project. Ever since then, i can't get a copy that will work on either of my two players that they worked on before. The whole process seems to go okay, and decrypter says the project completed successfully, but nothing will play. i can't figure out why nothing will work anymore!!

This may or may not help.
I've been backing up disks successfully for several months now and recently had a similar problem. I had been burning all of my backups @ 2.4x but when I changed to differnt media I didn't realize that the disks were forced to burn at 8x as this is all that the media would support, which I still don't quite understand. Anyway my dvd source drive could not keep the buffer full as it reads at only 8x. All of the disks that I backedup would not play and I couldn't figure out why. So I guess that the point is to check all of the settings from actual burn speed as indicated in the log file to any of the many settings available in decrypter and shrink resetting to default may help. Just curious have you tried to read the newly burned coasters in your computer with say power dvd or isobuster or something similar?

Closer had some nice copy protection that threw some people off, other movies have this as well (Hitch, Are We There Yet?). What movies have you tried unsuccessfully?

have you tried with anydvd or dvd43 running in the background? They rip off encryption on the fly, so you can just run Shrink to rip the disc if you want.

should go no problem. If not try anydvd (free trial available), but disable dvd43 if you do try anydvd because they don't play nicely together.
