My Nero recently start failing a lot. If I check the log file I see - PMA update failure - Could not perform end of Disc-at-once I tried: update firmware enable DMA, Defrag hard drive, set data buffer size to 80MB I have Vaio VGC-RB30 Series desktop and I even try use system recovery to recovermy system back to factory installed system and software But alas the problem is still there. Anyone know what cause this problem and what would be the solution? I include the nero log file below Thanks zigm4 ===================== Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 7/22/2004 5:33:44 PM Nero version: 6.3.1.20 Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DW-D22A> Version: BFS2 - HA 0 TA 0 - 6.3.1.20 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148A >Version: B400 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.3.1.20 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DW-D22A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148A atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : ST3200822AS atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD3200JD-60KLB0 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === SONY DVD RW DW-D22A D: CDRom0 SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148A E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 73400320 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 502MB (514792kB) Free physical memory: 72MB (73728kB) Memory in use : 85 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 4.9.2006 ISO compilation 1:03:04 AM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6065 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 1:03:04 AM #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 126 Reader running 1:03:04 AM #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer SONY DVD RW DW-D22A running 1:03:04 AM #4 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 1:03:05 AM #5 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3173 Turn on Disc-at-once, using DVD media 1:03:05 AM #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 247 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 1581775 (351:30.25, 3089MB) 1:03:05 AM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 1:03:05 AM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2162 Recorder: SONY DVD RW DW-D22A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: PRINCO - 8X02 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 1:03:05 AM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 420 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 1:03:05 AM #10 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 813 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1581776 (1581776) = #1581776/351:30.26 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1581776 blocks [SONY DVD RW DW-D22A ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 1:03:05 AM #11 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 984 Prepare recorder [SONY DVD RW DW-D22A ] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Hi zigm4 Welcome to aD Here's a few of suggestions: Update Nero to this version - 6.6.0.18. Here are some links: Package 1 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 (recode & vision) http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe Good memory but alot in use. So no multitasking and close any unecessary programs. Keep as much free as possible. Disc Manufacturer: PRINCO Not very good. May be the biggest cause of your problem. Try Verbatim or made in Japan only Fuji, Sony or Maxell. Let us know how this goes.
