When you start Nero "smart start", there is a pull-down menu at the very top in the middle. Change it from "CD" to "CD/DVD", and the all the CD and DVD options will become available... that is, assuming that you, in fact, have a DVD burner. ;-)
i have a dvd burner and i had done that of what you suggested but the option is still not available to pick. any ideas
Start --> All Programs --> Nero --> NeroTool Kit --> Nero InfoTool Under the Drives tab ["Supported Write Features"] are there check marks next to the DVD options (i.e., DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.) or only the CD options? While you're in Nero InfoTool, also check to see if you have drivers and APSI layer correctly installed. My next step after that would be to try reinstalling the latest version of Nero and making sure I have the latest firmware for my DVD writer.
i get to the drive tab and all, but it wont let me click to enable write dvd, but i dont understand why, since i have a dvd burner (Multi-Format DVD +/- Burner), and it allows me to write dvd data, but not videos and thats what i really need.thanks for your help so far but i still need help i guess. and its not like im a computer retard i know my way around extremely well, even getting a degree in CS but this is stumping me. it has to be something simple.
TRY removing the program and reinstalling it, sounds like its not reading your drives for whatever reason
yea i tried that too, could it be something with the hardware itself, the bad thing its a laptop and those arent the easiest to open and take a look at
i dont think its just nero because my software that came witht he burner wont allow me to burn video dvd either but all the rest for some reason, i thought maybe something got messed up so i also reinstalled windows to a fresh start and still it has the same problem.
