Well it looks like you have TDK media, and that gives problems to some ppl. Doc aka Kivory666 hates them worse than i hate CMC disc :).
Change media to Verbatim, Sony, Fuji, Maxell, last 3 made in japan.
The DMA is off for that drive. Use alkohol's guide to fix it.

and nero 7 is up to 7.0.1.4b now.
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-demo.php

I cant find the firmware for your drive as it gives a generic listing, and no manufacture. I suspect your firmware may be behind a version or two..
Nero doesn't even see those TDKs.
Slow it down to a 4x burn.
Thats about all i can see with a quick glance. Gotta hit the sack. The sun is coming up and i am a night worker. :)

hi, thanks for the quick reply.

im using ridisc 8x dvd-r, i dont use any other media, like i said they were working fine for ages until today, for no reason at all, nothing has been changed.

the DMA is on the for dvd writer drive, but not the other drive it seems which i dont use to write anyway, but i'll turn it on anyway.

and ive tried 2x/4x/8x. same thing happens each time
