    hi

i would try an uninstall and reload on nero, but nero aint brilliant, use divxtodvd to convert the avi to vob/ifo/bup then use nero to burn only

not trying to step on a AD addict's toes but skybird you might want to edit out your nero serial number. Many will overllok a nero vision log but I was looking (ok actually trying to peek over Rotary's shoulder :)) and saw the nero serial in your post.

    hi

    @ matt72 kool

well spotted i thought the new version ommitted the key, which leads me to ask have you the latest version installed?

could be wrong on the key but yes best remove it!

Yes I have the newest version installed but basically only use it for burning bin/cue files as I'm into dvdcopy 3 and dvdrb w/cce. That damn dvdrb/ cce was a mutherf**ka to learn in only 2 days but gosh willickers I think I've got it. Damn off topic already..anyway nero has all the utilities one would ever need just a lil too slow for my taste and quality is not always good when project is too big and have to squeeze using burning rom or vision express. I even use clonedvd for quick jobs, copy2dvd when I'm feeling lazy. Just reviewed one of my nero vision logs from a test and yes the nero key is not present.

    hi

kool i have never ventured into DVDRB/CCE as i found avi2dvd / cce dam easy, it does avi or dvd to dvd it has 4 built in encoders and you can use cce too, its a free app and dam good, bit slow but the quailty is the best i have seen, its main movie only (dvd) useing avi2dvd app though.

film machine is simarlar for avi to dvd and a free app which can use cce

nero quailty even on 2 pass isnt good enough for me...

@Skybird99 - OMG! i hate these logfiles, they're too huge...

I heard the words 'off topic' LOL, then saw Matt72 peeking over Rotary's shoulder so i snuck round the side of them and saw this -

    - free up more disc space too..

    - EDIT OUT your serial number..

    - from here - saw this transcoding patch - http://www.nero.com/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html

    - firmware version A080 available since Aug 2004 - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1910

    - 256MB is not really enough. If you can't get more memory, you need to close down as many background processes/applications ; otherwise you're using virtual memory - ie a portion of hard disc thus your hard disc will be 'swapping', and that will also be interfering with the dvd burning.

    - hmmm, what media you using ?

    - splat!

Download dvdinfo (free) and run one of those discs thru dvdinfo and paste your results

lmao @ creaky I knew you would be coming around for this thread. I was still looking and you beat me to the part about more hd space and memory. But I caught the nero serial. Damn shame I'm jumping from forum to forum..learning all I can. Oh and I peek over all the mods and addicts shouldersto see what they see and soak it up :)

no worries, once i see a Nero log (even these horrid things) i'm like a rat up an aqueduct. It's a bugger at work as i have to be careful how much time i spend on afterdawn, but so far have managed to not be moaned at. I'm still trying to break into a few different forums for some more learning but there's always 6000 Nero logs to keep me occupied. Best of all i haven't seen a CMC media thread for quite a few days now (the odd Imation one though)

    :)

A million thanks to all of you for your patience and assistance and with your help I have so far taken the following measures to try and correct the problem.
I have uninstalled with the nero clean tool and reinstalled nero with all the available updates as of June 14/05. I have not gotten the A05a firmware yet as the link posted does not seem to work but will try other avenues for that. I have downloaded enditall utility for shutting down all non-essential processes as well. I usually only burn at 1x speed and have been using fujifilm dvd+r media rated at 4x speed. Have worked fine up until most recently when nero stopped burning anything but vdc and cds or data dvds. Am trying to burn a dvd and will see if this all has helped or if more need be done. Will post back of any news and thanks to all for your kind help.

here's the link for the firmware file itself - ftp://ftp.aopen.com.tw/pub/driver/dvd+rw/duw1608arr/duw1608_r108.exe

i'd originally posted the other link so you'd see some of the other info too, but should really have posted this one i s'pose..

@Skybird99 - just stumbed across 3 multiposts you've done, instead of sticking with this thread and following the solutions you were given -

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/202722
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/202687
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/202431

I shall try and help you more with this thread but am going to ask a moderator to close the other 3 as it's against forum rules to multipost, plus it's very difficult to fix your problem in 4 different places, you're gonna get confused, i know i am now!
