Wanted to burn a test dvd using Nero 6 before making final copies on dvd-r media. Why does Nero not allow me to uncheck the 'finalize' button when using dvd-rw media? I wanted to resuse the dvd for something else but find it's finalized. The finalize button is checked and grayed out. Thanks, arnstein

    arnstein,
I just erase the RW's I use or format them again w/ no problem. You can use DVDinfoPro ( free) to do this .

To not finalize a dvd using Nero 6, do the following

    1.Start Nero.

2.Open 'DVD' in new compilation window.

    3.Look at 'Multisession'.

4.Click the circle leading to 'Start Multisession Disc'.

5.Burn your test files to that disc.

6.When burning to that disc again repeat steps 1,2 and 3

7.Change 'Start Multisession Disc' to 'Continue Multisesion Disc'

    8. Burn to disc

Got it, 'no multisession' was checked so I couldn't get the program to do what I wanted it to. Sigh, these disks aren't cheap and I hate to have wasted one, but I should have looked more closely. arnstein

even if you finalize a RW disc, you can still reuse it. Also, I don't think it will play in most dvd players unless you finalize the disc.

Hmm - I tried to erase it within Nero and it said it couldn't. I wonder if I thought I got rw discs and they are dvd-rs? I got them mail order and they're unlabeled.

if it's got a purple bottom it's not an RW. If the bottom is greyish, it is. Maybe go into my computer, right-click your burner with disc in, then choose erase or format?? If that works, it's an RW disc.
