Suddenly my laptop won't burn disk with Nero Recode 2. I have new drive on the way as HP agreed something not right when it used to work, now it doesn't. But I wanted to look at the error log anyway. TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B This drive keeps popping up in different threads. This is the one I am replacing.
This version of Nero contains some bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then install this more stable version, BOTH packages http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Well, my explanation is that the version is buggy, therefore it is prone to throwing up errors at any time, being inconsistent etc.
Again, thanks. I understand what "buggy" means. And I've had NO problems with the 6.6.1.4 version of Nero on three lap tops and one desk top until now with this particular lap top. That is why I shared that your suggestion does not provide a full answer for the entire scenario. As I've searched some more on the error codes it appears the drive is not passing on to Nero what Nero needs to recognize the media. This is new as well. The new drive will be here tomorrow. Will play with a new drive to see what I find out. Jim
New DVD burner installed. Happens to be same maker of drive, that Toshiba Samsung drive. But its firmware is newer than the one I pulled out. Apparently you can change the firmware to JUST a Toshiba drive, 6572 something or other. With the .18 version all is fine. Burned just fine. Trying the "buggy" version next. Jim
6.6.1.4 fine with new drive. Same process, DVDFab 2.9, copy dvd to hard drive, Nero Recode, same Memorex/Ritek DVD's. Works fine. Looks like drive was bad. Jim
