Recently I purchased a LITE ON DVD burner for my PC. It came with Nero. I dowloaded the new updates for it online including Recode 2. When I try to open recode, I get a message saying I do not have the proper license to open this application. I don't get it. This is a legal copy. Any ideas?
More than likely the version that came with your burner would be an OEM version, which doesnt usually have Nero Recode. You may be able to download Nero Recode from here, you will need package 2 only http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/nero-up.php
I am led to believe that if you already have an OEM version of Nero installed then you cannot download Package 2. There is a way around it though so I have been told and that is to uninstall your current version of Nero, run clean tool either Nero6 or Nero7. Install package 2 and THEN re install your version of Nero. Heres a link to clean tools Nero6 http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html Nero7 http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
Those OEMs that get packaged with drives are not much more than glorified advertisements for Nero. For yours to work, you are going to have to buy a Nero serial number to get your Nero registered. Try Gwen's method and see if it works though. I might quit bad-mouthing the OEMs if we can get them to actually work.
I got my initial version of nero as an OEM, came with my burner. Same thing, updated on-line, with Recode and everything. Recode did not work. Although it was installed, it did not let me use it until I purhased a SN to unlock it. I am curious if Gwendolin suggestions work!
