Nero Recode 3

Hi All,

I have a bit of a problem with Recode 2 and now 3.

Every time i import a dvd to be encoded my pc hangs.

Recode goes through its initial analysis and then it just starts useing like 100% CPU and my PC is non resposive. I takes like 10 min to get the task manager up when i press Ctr Alt Del.

Import DVD -> Initial Analisys -> Hangs when Initial Analisys completes.

Ne1 else have this problem.

I tried a few other dvd's but all the same. I ripped them with Anydvd.

I thought that doing a clean install of Nero 8 today would have fixed it but still the same.

Please help...

clean install? does that mean uninstalling AND useing clean tool from neros website?

so you are trying to copy an original dvd useing anydvd in the background while useing recode?
full dvd or main movie only?

some movies need more work done first! need alot more info buddy...

try ripping to hard drive first! useing dvdfab or dvd shrink or dvd decrypter

 

Yeah did a clean install with the clean tool from neros website.

All DVDs have been ripped to the HDD first by AnyDVD.

I also tried to import DVD that have allready been backed up. I copied them to the HDD and same thing hangs.

 

how much hard drive space you got left?

are you ripping to a different drive than normal?

 

I have heaps of free space on my HDD arround 130GB on my backupdrive where all images and recode temp folder is.

My drive is a Pioneer 110 i havent changed any firmware or drive.

I just cant understand why. Cos on another PC everything works fine. Save version of Anydvd same DVDs same Nero version. It used to work before..

It might just be the case of a XP reinstall... its due i think well XP SP3 is out now so it might be worth a reinstall.

XD what can you do, when you get a GHOST in the Machine XD

 

are you saying they rip to hard drive ok?

and its when you use from hard drive through recode it bombs out?

is the backup drive usb? and has it owrked on this usb drive ok before?

 

Yeah they rip to the HDD With no problem. I can import them into Nero Vision with out any problems. DVD Shrink works with them no problem.

Its just Nero Recode.

The drive is not USB its am internal one.

I havent tried to import directly from the DVD rom.

My PC is due for a Format. I would have done it a while ago, but its the down time to reinstall everything thats a killer. Plus been busy doing work on it.

just did my pc, does take a while to sort but make sure you save all things needed!!!

how come you favour recode over dvd shrink? dvd shrink has better quailty output

there is a hack for v6 and v7 nero recodes to get it to dvd shrink quailty but not for nero v8

dvd shrink has maximum sharp i think it is, recode does not! unless hacked.

Yeah i have all of my Solidworks stuff always backed up which is the important stuff, the rest i wont miss mush.

Its just a pain when i reinstall solidworks, imho.

Am i was alsways under the impression that Recode was better than Shrink. I mean Srink is not developed anymore is it?? Or are my wires crossed.

Are there any Image Quality reviews out there??

rotary-motion is the full name

as in everything goes round, what goes round comes round

also the wankel engine with rotary movement etc...
not sure on pics/reveiws for the maximum sharp alot swear by it though.

also dvd shrink isnt updated, but it does have that feature init, where recode may have more funcyionality, but for me end of the day the quailty that comes out from compressions counts more.

 

OK well i will give Shrink a go.

I got an email from Nero to run there tool on my that gathers info. So no thanks...

ANyways i will see what happens when i reinstall the system. I will have to do it one of these days...

Naa mate. I ran the nero tool that gathers data and sent them the log but still no reply. I emaild them a few times but nothing.

ANyways did yours work initialy and then stop all of a sudden???

Ahh well i have it working on my other system so am not too stressed. I will reinstall XP one of these days XD

 

Have you got Nero scout installed? Been known to use 100% CPU and hang certain computers? If so F-it off

 

In my case it turns out that the latest windows service pack must have corrupted the Nero install. The service pack is all that changed so I uninstalled Nero and reinstalled and all is well...
