I have two machines both running the same version of Nero Recode and AnyDVD. On one machine I can insert the DVD I want to backup and Any DVD does its magic - then I start Nero recode and it starts the backup. On the other machine When I start Nero Recode I get an error telling me that the DVD is protected so I have to rip the disk to a folder on the drive. Is there a setting somewhere in Nero or AnyDVD that I missed that causes them to hook?
I would check to make sure that AnyDVD [bold]did it's magic[/bold] then run Nero. In any case, I would rip to hard drive first then run Nero! why? because it saves your DVD drive extra wear and tear! then run Nero. I think it would be easier on your drive to read and rip to hard drive than to use it automatically to load nero up. Most programs use a temp folder to do this anyways. And I found out it's actually faster to rip to hard drive then use Nero than to do it directly from disk.
@clyedale I have not had any problems with mine but a remote possibility is that using the same license number on two different computers (AnyDVD), may result in improper fundtion for single user licensing. I do the same thing, two machines, same software, but sofar no problem. But, both of mine are desktop, networked through one router. I belive the chance for failure will be amplified if you are using a mobile/laptop. What is your configuration? Post a log from your problem machine to see if there are other problems with your setting.
