For some unknown reason to me, Recode has started to act up all of a sudden. I have done quite a few backups previously using this tool but the last several discs have croaked. I can use Shrink to do the job, but seeing as I paid handsomely for this POS software I would like it to work. Your DMA is off, turn it on. Here is a simple guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 You have Roxio install at some point. Roxio softwares conflicts with Nero. Download Roxio zap to remove Roxio. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
Hey Creton Just to add to nasayin good advice: Direct burning: true Turn off Burn at Once. Better to save to the hard drive temporarily at least. Nero will delete the temp file when done. Unexpected exception Which movie(s) are you doing? How did you rip it etc or are you running AnyDVD in the background?
Hi Binkie.... After some answers on another forum I did basically what you suggest. I used the current FabDecrypter to rip Final Days of Planet Earth. It is in two parts on the same disc, similar to Episodes of T.V. programs. Must have been a made for T.V. movie as in both parts the intros come up and the credits roll at the end of both parts.....a weird setup. Anyway, I had removed this stuff in Nero with the Start / End function and used burn-at-once. Everything ran till the bitter end and then the message of a failed burn. I think the problem is Recode not sending the compressed files over to be burned because when I burn the decrypted file to the hard drive, then burn the file in Nero Burning Rom it works....doesn't look like a Burning Rom problem. This crap is all too prevalent in Nero lately. They should have stuck with what they did well and never mind loading all this bloatware in their software.
Just my guess on what happened. Since you kinda of editted the movie and had burn at once turned on didn't give Recode a chance to properly transcode the file. Burn at Once is like doing it in real time. I have this option unchecked in Recode. I let it save to a temp file 1st then burn directly. But again this is just a guess. Yes Nero did get a bit bloated but their new thing is 'your 1 stop shop for all multi media needs' Not their exact words but I think you get it
Out of curiosity, what movie are you trying to recode? I don't know about others, but I never like to use auto-burn regardless if it's DVD Shrink to Nero Burning Rom or Nero Recode to Nero Burning Rom. I've always recommended and preferred to write into my HD first, then I'll manually burn with either Nero Burning Rom or Express later. So far I haven't experienced any issues with Recode since I first started using Recode by importing to my HD. Below is a recent successfully log of Recode taken from mine. You can reference/compare yours to mine and see if you'll see any differences.
@binkie I guess I must have missed it or didn't read it more further down. I've checked CBRETON's Recode log and it seems pretty short to me, if it has not been edited out. Seems like Recode never completed its task. In addition, Burning Rom is throwing up maybe due to "Roxio" conflicting with Nero. Or some of those files are corrupted due to the below message: If Recode is successfully transcoded, then it should have at least given a specific "last address" of certain MB. In this case, it's lost.
My thinking is that since burn at once is turned on Recode is doing the transcoding & burning at the same time (if that makes sense). So it doesn't finish compiling all the files before starting the burn. I think that's why the log shows like it does.
I'm indebted to Binkie and Alkohol on this one! The old Roxio driver had been there for years with no problems at all, although it is a "known" problem for Nero, but it never affected mine until the latest update in 7. So I said what the heck....DUMP IT. The log is short for the reasons Binkie suggests. Recode did not do its thing using the BAO option. I have been in contact with "Craig" from another list who is a Nero rep and who has been "EXTREMELY" helpful with a couple of problems I've had with Nero. He admits there is and has been an ongoing problem like mine since the 6 versions. We checked a couple of things to see if it was a Burning Rom or Recode thing, and it resulted in a Recode problem not getting the files over to be burned. Soooo....with the Roxio driver dumped and the Burn At Once option unchecked I've burned three more movies without a problem......so far. With Nero your next problem is just around the corner! By the way....Last Days of Planet Earth looked like a sleeper but was actually pretty good. Anyone remember the "V" series?
Hey CBRETON Actually nasayin 1st pointed out the Roxio bit Hmm a helpful Nero rep - good deal. He used to post here too but hasn't been here for awhile. I think you'll be fine w/ Nero recode now I remember V - think I watched a few. Txs for the tip on the movie - may have to check that one out.
You're welcome and glad we all could help you. Glad you've got the issue sorted now. Yep, I never used "BAO", plus I never like to use auto-burn via Recode to Burning Rom. I've always preferred writing to my HD, then burn my VIDEO_TS file later. Best of luck to all, happy ripping and burning. Regards
