Alright folks, I've reached the end of my rope. I cannot figure out how to encode video files to MP4 or Nero Digital using Nero Recode CE. It used to work just great and now, nada! Every file I encode will not play on the DSM-320.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I must assume you do know how to burn the files since you said they used to work. That being so, what happens if you try to play them? Are you getting any error messages during burning?

If it did work and now it doesn't, have you done anything to change a driver or any software that might be related to what you are doing?

Have you checked the logs? Maybe they will show you what has changed, especially if you had one that was taken while it did work.

Sorry folks. I wasn't too clear on the problem description. Here's the deal: The DSM-320 (dlink streaming meadia player) used to play MP4 files encoded with Nero Recode until they broke it with a firmware "upgrade". Now dlink says that if you encode the vids with Nero Recode CE it'll work. Well, I went and got Recode CE but everytime I encode a movie with CE the DSM-320 still doesn't play the file and it tells me that I am trying to play a file type that's not supported.

I'm thinking a hammer might fix the problem. =)

You did not give any specifics about your firmware version. I saw this in the knowledge base area.

To use new capabilities in firmware v1.03 or v1.04, you need Media Server v1.02. To use firmware v1.05 your need Media Server v 1.03.

    Have you fulfulled those requirements?

The website says it supports MP4 video, but it is not specific about things such as frames per second. It does say max supported resolution is 720x480. Do you know the specs on your recoded files?

    Saltgrass,
I am not sure on the resolution. I'll check that out. That may be the key.

My firmware is the most recent.

    I am running Twonkyvision 3.1

What knowlege base are you referring to for the DSM-320?

There seems to be quite a bit of information on the dLink site. I just picked something I thought might pertain to your problem.

It's funny that in firmware v1.07 they say they did the below:

"Added Nero Recode CE promotional messages"

Maybe they messed up with the firmware--can you go back?
