    Hi,
    I am new using anydvd and nero to burn the disk. I was told recode worked great to edit the dvd after backing it up.

    I am lost on how to get recode to remove the "Extra's" or "Trailers", anyone have a guide or some detailed info? I used to use shrink and it was much more obvious.
    After using recode the burning process seems easier, I used shrink before and then nero to burn the image but if I can cut back to just anydvd and nero that would be cool

    Thx

    If you choose the main movie only option you don't have to worry about it.
    @LOCOENG
    what version are you using? When I use the newest recode, choose which part of the movie I want out, then hit the disable button on the right a window pops up asking if I use slide show, custom picture or custom color to put in its place.

    Nero 7...hadn't looked at all the options, because I usually only backup the main movie. I know there are some other choices to make with Nero Digital but I've not looked into them, is this where you are talking about inserting still images and such?

    No, I was using 6 under copy and backup, copy entire DVD icon, I believe its in 7 too, I could be wrong.

    --edited to say I was using the Nero Startsmart panel to launch, and not just opening the program through the start menu---

    Its still there in 7 as well. For instance I used it to make backup of bambi2 for my grandson. Selected to disable title 7 through 22 as they are previews and the makeing of, selected to use color in there place. The backup then becomes 99% of original with the virtual games (tour) still on it for him to play and I dont have to worry if he is playing toss with the original.

    Thx, so if you click on a title and hit disable it then basically fills it in with "nothing - color"?

    So basically it is the same as doing the main movie except you get the menu options?

    I noticed if you just do main movie you get no "setup - title" options to pick like the sound, screen, etc?

    How does it work with movies that have widescreen or regular format? Can you pick which one to backup?

    Thats where the audio and subtitle check boxes come into play. I ususally disable all subtitles and all audio exept for 5.1.
    If there is a widescreen and regular version of the movie, you should look under the main movie tab because there might be 2 movies instead of 1. Use your video preview to figure out which you want to keep.

    I actually prefer Nero Recode 2 better than DVD Shrink.

    I use -r just because I got a good deal on 400 -r printable T.Y.

    Good media -r or +r will be ok.

    Thx Gwendolin - I am not breaking the rules, I don't want the kangaroo kicking my as*

    So if you use DVD -r then you don't have to worry about the booktype?

    it seems to not make sense to use dvd+R?

    Hi,
    Also quick question, I read through that forum and I am using anydvd with nero - is there a way to "booktype" with that if necessary? Do you have to booktype all dl dvd's? I think my friend backed up his copy of batman begins so his kids didn't wreck it and he used a regular dvd-r and not a dl disk. Is that possible? Can you burn a dl dvd to a regular disk?

    thx

    Thats correct, you can only Booktype the +R DVDs, I always use the +R format as these are accepted by ALL my players., I DONT booktype.

    Booktyping helps compatability so if you don't have that problem, or only have DVD-R on hand, don't fear. It doesn't make a disc "better" it just helps play on any set top box you have.
    @the punish
    The title of your thread, Recode is how you shrink a DL (DVD-9) to fit on a regular (DVD-5) disc. DVDShrink works well also because it's made by the same guy but not updated.

    *NOTE: If you have the following set to "Automatic", then whenever you use Nero Recode 2, Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom or Nero Vision to burn, all your backups will automatically set the “Book Type” to DVD-ROM if you’re using a DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD+R DL media. That is... if your dvd burner is capable of book typing.

    ((Here's how to Book Type using Nero Burning Rom))

    01) open up Nero StartSmart, then click on Nero Burning Rom
    02) EXIT out the "New Compilation" when it pops up
    03) click on "Chooses A Recorder" (it's a small burner icon next to (I) and the arrow down)
    04) click on “Options," then on "Book Type Settings," set to "Automatic" and click "OK" - that's it... easy as smoking. Now every time when you burn using a DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD+R DL disc, Nero will “automatically” change the Book Type into a DVD-ROM format.
