I've got to imagine someone else has had this problem before, because Nero will NEVER let me burn a DVD over 4x.

I have tried all different versions of nero (including 7), I have reinstalled my OS multiple times, and this happens on both my NEC and my LG drives.

So what gives, nero sucks or what? DVD decrypter burns over 4x. Is there an alternative to Nero for DVD-Video, CD-ISO, DVD-ISO, etc?

    THANKS !

the speed at which nero burns is governed by many things
the quality of media you are using
    your burners firmware
    your burners maximum speed
the speed of the media that you are burning
    to name a few
as a rule movies burned at over half the rated speed of the disk tend to cause playback problems
but if you are deterimed for that extra speed look into the above items

Yeah, I generally don't have a problem with 4x, but sometimes I would like to do 8x.

I have updated my firmware, and am using excellent media as always. I've let it go so long because 4x does do the job - I was just wondering if anybody else know wtf the deal was. thanks, -a

It is probably doing you a favour by only burning at 4x.

Apart from the media you use the most common reason for burn failures is the speed. You should never burn at more than 4x.

I always used to burn at 8x and about half of my dvd's ended up as coasters. Now, even using cheap discs, it never fails.

    I choose quality before speed!
