My Gateway laptop (Windows XP), is a couple of years old, with Nero Express pre-installed. I make copies of music CDs in order to carry in my car. Yesterday I made a copy, and it worked fine... when I made the next copy, it was something I had already made a copy of several months ago (for my hubby's car), and the song list immediatly popped up (I didn't need to access the internet database). I thot that was a bit odd, but kept going. After the image had been created for burning, it was time to insert a blank CD. I have a stack of Memorex Cds that I am about halfway thru the package, and have had no prior troubles. I inserted the blank, and it was spit back out with the message: CD is not empty. I tried again with another blank, and same result. Then I tried another original CD (which I had also copied several months ago), and had the same results... I tried rebooting, and then did a restore back a few days, and still no success. Pls advise as to what steps I need to take to get this working again. Thanks in advance for any help

Howdy ByteBabe. We need to try a couple of things. First upgrade your Nero to version 6.6.0.18. It's the best version of Nero 6 available. Be sure to write down the program serial number so you have it available. Nero can be downloaded here: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe or here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539 You need to uninstall the older version with the Nero Clean Tool first: http://www.ahead.de/nero6/us/General_CleanTool.html After updating Nero, let's reinstall the drive: Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Click the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button. Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives. Right click on the CD burner name and select Uninstall. Restart the system. I just noticed you have Nero Express so I'm assuming you don't have the full version. Is this correct? If so, you can still download Nero 6, the full version, and use it in trial mode.
I am here...working on it. So far, I have done the CleanTool, and now trying to get the Nero version you mentioned loaded.
