Anyone worked out how to disable Nero Scout under MS Vista yet?

    regsvr32 /u "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll"

doesn't work, it just gives an error message. Nero seem to have disabled access to the properties page, and I can't get the Options to open either. Looks like they are DETERMINED to force Nero Scout on us whether we want it or not. :(

It appears to work as it does in XP. To disable it, uncheck the box. It does still show up in My Computer, but it does that in XP also.

I never tried that fix, but you may need to run it as administrator, or even go into the registry and change the properties on those entries to allow for them to be changed. In my install it never did any indexing, just showed up with nothing else listed. I really don't know why Nero is so determined for Scout to run, unless it is some type of DRM issue.

I don't use VISTA, but am using Win XP PRO SP2 and this is how I disable Nero Scout.

    upon completion of installation:

    * click Start, Run and type: msconfig and click OK
    * click Startup, uncheck NeroCheck & NMBgMonitor
    * then Apply/OK, Close, Exit Without Restart

    * Right click on Nero Scout via Taskbar
    * Option, then disable Nero Scout
    * now restart your system and Nero Scout is gone.

    Thanks.

Apparently the old regsvr32 command line also works, but you have to start Vista in safe mode first.

    Cheers

how do I ENABLE nero scout? i am using vista 6000 rtm MSDN version and nero 7 premium.

when i try to set it up in nero home, i get an error saying:
could not write to ner scout try again or press cancel.

I am not a programer so i would probly need to know if those commands go into Msconfig, a specific file, or the command prompt.
