I have the same problem. Since upgrading to Nero 5.5.10.20 I keep getting SCSI/ATAPI command timeout error when I simulate an overburn. This always happens at 2% with a full buffer. My rom drive just kept spinning and got louder and louder like it was gonna take off. I had to flick the switch at the back of the hard drive to stop it but since doing a disc defrag the loud spinning doesn't happen anymore, just the SCSI/ATAPI command timeout error. The thing is I've been able to do a burn when not using the overburn feature, eventough there was an error at the end of the burn process the disc still played fine. My writter ( Ricoh DVD/CDRW MP9060 ) does support overburn and I have set the upperlimit to 85mins, the disc capacity is 82.57 ( Traxdata 80cd-r ) and my mp3 file is 15sec less than that.
    Any ideas anybody? Thx.

If you're using the latest Nero and still encountering problems then switch to another burning application like BurnAtOnce (freebie).

I solved the problem by dropping down to an older version. The same might work for you or dl the latest version.

Try a different version of nero, I dropped down to a lower version which solved the problem for me. And defragment your hard disc, this might help with the noises.

    HUH?!
Could it be DMA vs PIO issues? Could it be windows instability issues/background apps?
