    Hi fymlor
Could be the source discs you are copying form. Your drive may be having a hard time reading some so it will slow down.
Check the back of the discs for dirt/smudges/scratches etc. If dirty clean them off w/ something non abrasive in a non circular motion.

May need a firmware update too (if not up to date) to help the drive recognize them better esp if copying from DVD-/+R media. They may also be part of the problem if quality media wasn't used.

If doing a bunch of copies in a row you may need to reboot after a few to clear things up.

Nero can also use an update - update to 6.6.0.18. Here are links to use:
    Package 1
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package 2 (recode & vision)
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

If you hadn't done a disc cleanup and defrag very recently do those too. Do them weekly.
