I have a weird problem. I have a full version of Nero 7 and installed the latest version from their website (I never actually installed from the disk). When installing I get a strange serial number appearing that's not the one on my disk. I delete it, put in the one from my retail package and continue. At the end, I get error messages saying that Nero Burn and Nero Home cannot be registered. But I load up SmartStart and everything works fine.

However, when I close out the program and go to use it again, all the shortcuts have stopped working and I cannot load up anything in the software suite.

I have used the cleaner tool to uninstall and reinstall, and the whole thing starts over. I can use the program once, and then it no longer works.

I have done a bunch of things like search the registry after uninstalling to look for anything hanging in there, but the Ahead and Nero registry keys are gone. I have no idea where the serial number is coming from that appears in the installation process and of course I can't figure out why I can use the program once and then nothing works once I exit.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks for the help.

I haven't experienced anything like what you have but I think the update of Nero updated your serial # with the website to let you access the new updated version of Nero on your computer. When you deleted the new serial # and used the old one it will not allow you to use the program after you close it! Soooooo I suggest you use Nero Cleaning tools after you un install Nero, then do a registry clean up, then defrag and reboot. then reinstall Nero from your disk then update Nero and let the update use the new serial #, this time around, and see how it goes! good luck.
